Mid week Check-inFrom the Rector's Desk A few weeks ago, Sara Miller wrote a piece on Sabbath for us, which reminded me of a book that a friend gifted to me called, The Sabbath by Abraham Joshua Heschel. It's actually a re-release of his original book, this one with an introduction by his daughter, Susannah Heschel. In her introduction, she writes: How do we bring about the elusive atmosphere that is the Sabbath? ...We know what to do with space, but how do we shape sacred time? Six days a week we live with a fury of acquisitiveness, [Rabbi Heschel writes]; Shabbat renews the soul and we rediscover who we are, "The Sabbath is the presence of God in the world open to the soul of [humans]." God is not in things of space, but in moments of time. How do we perceive God's presence? As I prepare to come back from a month of Sabbath time, I'm holding this question in front of me. How do I/we perceive God's presence and how do I make space or set time aside in my life for Sabbath to renew my soul and re-discover who I am, so that I can bring the best of myself to you and my family? With gratitude for our ministry together. Marnie

Into the Mystics!Thursday evenings A note from Chris about what to expect: This is for everyone who wants to discover their inner life more deeply. While we're learning about the mystics and their writing, this is about the heart, not the head. You don't have to be a theologian; you just have to be open to meeting God more deeply. You can come for one, a few of your favourites, or the whole thing.
We'll spend about 10 minutes learning about the mystics, but then the rest of our time will be with prayer, reflection and meditation practices that will take us deeper into the heart of God.
And here is the zoom link:
