Mid week Check-in

Mid week Check-in

From the Rector's Desk

This week, Jonathan has been running the Summer Chamber Music Camp at St. Anne's.

The whole building has been filled with music and youth, talking and laughter.

From September through to June, our church is well used by a preschool, after-school programs, piano lessons, community, AA meetings, and of course our sandwich ministry. And I always feel a little sad when the summer comes and the church gets quiet.

I believe that churches should be utilized; they should be places where the community gathers and people meet.

I have tried to ensure that the groups that use our buildings align with what we say our values are, centering around children, their families, and music, and I think we have done a pretty good job.

This week, as I catch up on all of the work that I have missed for the past four weeks, I am glad to do it in a full church, with music and youth, because next week it's going to get quiet again.

With gratitude for our ministry together.

Marnie

Fundraising Brainstorm and Lunch

At the last Parish Council retreat it was agreed to set up a fundraising committee to help raise funds to address the St Anne's deficit and support the running and ministries of our beloved church home.

The fundraising committee has now been set up, and is being co-chaired by Chris Dorle and Sara Miller, with Monika Follett and Roger Farrier serving as committee members. All are welcome to attend fundraising committee meetings which will be announced beforehand.

Our first action as a committee is to hold a hold a brainstorming session to generate and prioritize ideas for fundraising activities and events on Sunday, 20 July at 11.30.  All St Anne's parishioners are invited to attend, and we look forward to hearing your creative suggestions on how we can raise funds, have fun, and build community in the process. A light sandwich lunch will be provided.  We are looking forward to seeing you there!
