Mid week Check-inThis week, I am in Nanaimo teaching at the Provincial School for Congregational Development's final session for this year. This year, we have been focused on how we as individuals can impact our churches by learning about our preferences and strengths, how to give and receive feedback well, practicing ways to deal with conflict, and learning how to plan and implement change. Our group has been made up of people from across British Columbia and the Yukon, and I think that one of my favorite things about this program is the relationships that have begun to form. It has been such a gift to hear stories from people who come from a variety of places, who are all facing some of the same concerns in their churches. Even the trainers in this program are from across the Province and have a variety of experiences in the church. Being a part of programs like this help me to be a better priest for St. Anne, and I get to tell the story of some of the things that we do together, which is also really fun for me. And then, when I get back I will join Roger and Amanda at our Diocesan Synod meeting at the Italian Cultural Centre which meets on May 30 and 31. It's a busy week, but I am really looking forward to it!

Into the Mystics!A note from Chris about what to expect: This is for everyone who wants to discover their inner life more deeply. While we're learning about the mystics and their writing, this is about the heart, not the head. You don't have to be a theologian; you just have to be open to meeting God more deeply. You can come for one, a few of your favourites, or the whole thing.
We'll spend about 10 minutes learning about the mystics, but then the rest of our time will be with prayer, reflection and meditation practices that will take us deeper into the heart of God.
