Two years ago I felt a calling to put my name forward to join the parish council. No one objected at the annual vestry meeting, so there I was working with an incredible group of people whose aim was/is to enhance the well-being of St. Anne's, Steveston.

During my first year on the council, I was feeling my way forward by being a member of the communications committee. Shortly after being reappointed for my second term, I realized that St. Anne's didn’t have a stewardship program as such. When I inquired about this at council it was suggested I take the lead. Having had previous experience in stewardship matters, and while on my drive home from that meeting, I said to myself “Why not!”.

Time and talent – most of us have time, even in our busy lives; and we all most certainly have talent. In looking at our council members I see a lawyer, an accountant, a physiotherapist, a filmographer, and several retirees, some of whom have much more energy than me. We are so blessed to have these people. However, it is now time for some of them to “retire” after many years of service to the church. Who is going to replace them? Those prayers have been answered. It is great to hear the news that several people have put their names forward to serve on Parish Council.

My personal hope is that someone within our community feels a calling to help with stewardship. I hope I have been able to communicate that stewardship is a year-round venture and it IS NOT all about money. If you feel an urge to join me in this ministry please contact Marnie, Amanda or myself.

We are looking for people who are interested in being a part of our Council for the year to come including for the following positions:

- Treasurer

- Synod Delegate (this is a Synod meeting year)

- Stewardship Committee

We are looking for people to join the team of people who lead our prayers at the 10am worship service.

The Practicing the Way Course features eight sessions of teaching, guided conversation, and spiritual exercises designed to lay a foundation for our faith practice. 

We will meet in person on Wednesdays at 11:00am and online on Thursdays at 7:00pm
